INTRODUCTION TO NETOBJECTS FUSION AUTOSITE TEMPLATES
Use AutoSite templates as a professionally designed starting point for your site or site section. You can create a new site based on an AutoSite template, or you can insert an AutoSite template into an existing site. After inserting the AutoSite template, you simply replace the template's data with your own.
The following provides a brief description of each NetObjects Fusion AutoSite template:
Company Internet
Site designed to be a company's Web site. Includes pages named Company, About Us, Sales, Service, What's New, and SiteMap. Includes calendar, catalog order form, jobs, contacts, feedback form, FAQs, registration form, and more.
Company Intranet
Same as Company Internet, but intended for internal use.
Human Resources
Site for employees to access personnel information such as company organization, employee directory, hiring policy, time off, performance reviews, and benefits.
Import
Site for employees to access personnel information such as company organization, employee directory, hiring policy, time off, performance reviews, and benefits.
Marketing Department
Site for marketing department, containing pages for products, analysis, plans, forecasts, competition, promotion, product launch, corporate ID, public relations, and more.
Online Publishing
Site for magazine, newsletter, or other online publication, containing pages for editorials, departments, reviews, classifieds, and more.
Product Catalog
Site containing pages for product catalog information, ordering, registration, and service.
Sales Department
Site for sales department, containing pages for people, jobs, contacts, feedback, public relations, sales, service, product catalog, order form, FAQs, registration form, calendar, and more.
CREATING A NEW SITE BASED ON AN AUTOSITE TEMPLATE
You can create a new site and base it on a NetObjects Fusion AutoSite template.
- Start NetObjects Fusion.
- Choose New Site from the File menu.
The New Site dialog appears.
- In the Site Name field, type a name for your site.
- In the Source section, click AutoSite Template.
- Select an AutoSite from the AutoSite Template drop-down list.
- Click OK.
NetObjects Fusion creates your new site and imports the selected AutoSite template as its starting point.
- In Page view, substitute your own text, pictures, and other content to finish the site.
INSERTING AN AUTOSITE TEMPLATE INTO AN EXISTING SITE
You can insert an AutoSite template into an existing site.
- In Site view, select the page under which you want to place the AutoSite template.
- Choose Import Section from the File menu.
The Import Section dialog appears.
- In the NetObjects Fusion Sites section, click Other.
- Click the Browse button.
- In the file open dialog that appears, navigate to the NetObjects Fusion 2.0\Templates\AutoSites folder.
- Open the folder for the AutoSite template you want to use.
- Open the AutoSite's nft file.
- In the New Site dialog, click OK.
NetObjects Fusion imports the AutoSite assets and places the imported site below the selected page.
- In Page view, substitute your own text, pictures, and other content to finish the site.
CREATING YOUR OWN AUTOSITE TEMPLATE
You might want to create a template containing logos, forms, or other standard corporate information you want on your Web site.
You can create your own template by creating a site and exporting it as a template. You can add it to the list of NetObjects Fusion AutoSites by exporting your site to the appropriate NetObjects Fusion folder.
NetObjects Fusion stores its AutoSite templates in the NetObjects Fusion 2.0\Templates\AutoSites folder. Each template is stored as an nft file in a folder of the same name. For example, the path to the page template named "Company Internet" is NetObjects Fusion 2.0\Templates\AutoSites\Company Internet\Company Internet.nft. The assets for this template are stored in the folder NetObjects Fusion\Templates\AutoSites\Company Internet\Assets.
To create an AutoSite template
- Set up your site the way you want.
- In Site view, choose Export Template from the File menu.
The Select Folder dialog appears.
- Select the drive and folder where you want to store your AutoSite template.
Note: To include the template in the AutoSite Template list in the New Site dialog, you must select the NetObjects Fusion 2.0\Templates\AutoSites folder.
- Click OK.
NetObjects Fusion creates the nft template file and places it in a folder with the same name as your site name, within the folder you specified.
Note: You can also access your new AutoSite template from the Import Section dialog. You must select the Other option, click Browse, navigate to the NetObjects Fusion 2.0\Templates\AutoSites folder (or to another folder where you saved the template), select the folder for your AutoSite template, then select the nft file for your template.
