MESSAGE 1

CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are:
Can't locate config in @INC at C:\InetPub\wwwroot\myname\form-01\assets\cgi- bin\Forms-Hand ler.cgi line 6.

Explanation
This message appears if the Virtual Directory alias (under IIS) is set incorrectly. The virtual directory setting normally should be set to the path of the assets/cgi-bin directory starting from the web server's home directory.

MESSAGE 2

HTTP/1.0 500 Server Error
(/tenerife/assets/cgi-bin/Forms-Handler.cgiis not a valid Windows NT application. )

Explanation
This is probably due to the CGI extension not having been associated with the Perl executable. The perl installation associates PL (not CGI) with PERL.EXE. You (or your ISP) need to set up this association manually. Also, if you're running IIS, you need to set the cgi-bin directory as executable.

MESSAGE 3

Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, root@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

Explanation

  • Perl Path for Unix setting is incorrect. This applies only when Publish To is set to Unix. The web server, therefore, is unable to run the Perl interpreter to execute the CGI script.
  • This message (or a similar Server Error message) will appear if Publish To is set to Unix when the file server is Windows NT. This message will also appear if Publish To is set to Windows when the file server runs UNIX.
