MIGRATION

1. Extended ASCII characters, double-byte characters, or non-Western European characters from 2.0x or 3.0 sites convert to "garbage" characters when migrated into version 3.01.
Solution: Sxxxx
There is no way to convert these characters correctly from an earlier product version. The only solution is either to copy and paste the original text into a word processor, and from there into 3.01; or to retype all information in 3.01 directly.

2. Characters Converted in Fusion 2.0.x for the Macintosh Site Opened in Fusion 3.0.1 for Windows
Solution: S1292
If you base a new NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1 for Windows site on a NetObjects Fusion 2.0.x for the Macintosh site, extended characters (e.g., quotation marks, apostrophes) appear as completely different characters.

3. Form settings from imported HTML are lost when bringing a file from 2.0.x into 3.0.1.
No Solution Object.
When you open a NetObjects Fusion 2.0.x web site in NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1, form settings that were created by importing HTML will be lost. You will need to re-enter the form information by clicking in the form area and again on the "Settings" button on the properties palette.

4. Importing a site created in NetObjects Fusion 2.0.x containing a java applet into NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1 creates a directory "C:" in publish view.
No Solution Object. When you import a site created in NetObjects Fusion 2.0.x(containing a java applet) into NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1 creates a directory named "C:" in publish view.

5. Elements from Fusion 2.0.x Parts Folder do not Appear in Fusion 3.0.1
Solution: S1274
When you open a NetObjects Fusion 2.0.x web site in NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1, elements you inserted from the NetObjects Fusion 2.0.2\Parts folder do not appear, or do not preview or publish as expected (e.g., do not appear, or return an error message). Fusion 2.0.x formats links to files located in the Fusion 2.0.2\Parts folder, starting with the current application folder, rather than using an absolute path from the root of the hard drive. When you open a Fusion 2.0.x web site in Fusion 3.0.1, Fusion 3.0.1 reads these links based on the Fusion 3.0.1 application folder, rather than the Fusion 2.0.x application folder, and cannot locate the linked files.

6. Height of text block changes after migration
No Solution Object
In 2.x site migrated to 3.0.1, the height of a text block (in pixels) may be different between NOF versions.

7. Slow performance of 2.0.x site files in 3.0.1
No Solution Object
Site files created under NetObjects Fusion 2.0.x migrated into version 3.0.1 may perform more slowly in the new version. To fix, view each page in Page view, also verify all file and link assets in the Assets view.

8. Migrating a .nod or .nft from NetObjects Fusion 2.0.2 to NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1 and double-clicking on the Data Object does not open the 'Data Publishing' dialog.
No Solution Object.
If you migrate a site which contains a Data Object from NetObjects Fusion 2.0.2 into NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1, double-clicking the Data Object in Page View will not bring up the Data Publishing dialog as expected. You must click on the "Define" button in the properties palette for the object in order for the window to come up.

9. Publish View and Assets View show 2 copies of the image used for a form button.
No Solution Object.
Importing a NetObjects Fusion 2.0.x site containing a form with an image as a submit button into NetObjects 3.0.1, Publish View shows a copy of the image with a '1' appended to the end of the name. It shows this "image1.gif" as being published when the "image.gif" is the file that gets published. Also, Assets View has 2 copies of the image, one with a .gif at the end of the name and one without the .gif.

10. Links in Polygon HotSpots are not maintained from NetObjects Fusion 2.0.1 to NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1.
No Solution Object.
Open PITS: 24646
A site migrated from NetObjects Fusion 2.0.1 to NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1 will drop the links created in Polygon HotSpots.

ACTIONS

Action targeting Layout Unexpectedly Affects All Elements in Fusion 3.0.1 Page
Solution: S1290
Although the Object Tree displays the Layout area and MasterBorder area as two different objects, they are not. The two areas are separated in the Object Tree for ease of locating elements in each. Using the Layout area as the target for an action will apply that action to elements in the Layout area, as well as elements in the MasterBorder. When you wish to cascade a single action to a number of elements, place the elements into a Layout Region, and then select the Layout Region as the target of the action.

ASSETS

1. Images on stacked pages appear 'Not in Use' in Assets view
Solution: S1183
When you migrate a Fusion 2.0.x web site containing an internal data object into Fusion 3.0.1, Fusion incorrectly adds images in the data object to the Assets list. The assets will be removed from Assets view the next time user performs Assets|Delete all Unused Assets

2. Picture Rollover Component's Images do not Appear in Fusion 3.0.1's Assets View
Solution: S1168
Fusion's Picture Rollover component requires you to choose an initial image, a mouse-over image, and a mouse-out image. If you configure the component to use the same imagefor more than one of these parameters (e.g., the same image used as the initial image and as the mouse-out image), Fusion does not show the image in Assets view. However, Fusion still publishes the image with the web site, and the Picture Rollover component should work as expected.

3. Banner image may appear in Assets View
No Solution Object
Cut a banner from your page, hit undo and now the banner is registered in Assets view.

COMPONENTS

1. Dynabuttons do not display in IE 3.0.1 for the Macintosh
No Solution Object
Dynabuttons appear as expected in IE 4.x and NN 3.x and 4.x

2. AutoForm output file is not created when using a custom directory for the "abs. Path" value on Windows.
Solution: SXXXX
This is a string length/directory level issue. Three levels deep will not work. Neither will a long string. For example:

  • C:\InetPub\ -> Works
  • C:\InetPub\wwwroot\ -> Works
  • C:\InetPub_wwwroot\ -> Doesn't work
  • C:\InetPub\wwwroot\User -> Doesn't work
  • C:\a\b\c -> Doesn't work

3. Placing SiteMap on a page prevents Layout HTML from being placed on a page.
No Solution Object.
IF you place the SiteMap Component on a Page, HTML entered into the Layout will not appear in the generated files. The MasterBorder HTML is not affected by this.

DATA OBJECTS

1. Excel workbook results in error: "External table isn't in expected format"
Solution: S1282
The error "External table isn't in expected format" occurs when you inserta Microsoft Excel workbook into a NetObjects Fusion 2.0.x or later web site. The workbook is not imported. Open the workbook in Excel, save it in Excel 5.0/95 format, and then reinsert the workbook into Fusion.

IMPORT

1. Import Html Page, contents placed in many nested Layout Regions
No Solution Object
HTML Import of page generated by NOF using nested tables may result in content placed in nested Layout Regions. This can make it difficult to change page layout without removing all of the Layout regions first.

2. JavaScripts Using Functions Called in BODY tag do not Preview in Fusion 3.0.1
Solution: S1003
Fusion's Import engine does not support JavaScript functions in the BODY tag of imported documents. Because the Import engine supports JavaScript code in the HEAD section and BODY section of imported documents, replacing the missing function into the BODY tag enables the script to run as expected.

LAYOUT

1. Unable to Paste Elements into Layout Region in Fusion 3.0.1
Solution: S1210
Elements you paste into a Layout Region appear with an exclamation point icon, and they are not placed back into the Layout Region. Because Layout Regions only toggle into Insert Mode when you drag an element into them, Fusion cannot paste elements into Layout Regions. After you paste an element into a Fusion page, you can drag that element into the Layout Region as expected.

2. Undo, Image Map Hot Spot Unexpectedly Sticks in Layout Region in Fusion 3.0.1
Solution: S1284
When you drag an image map into a Layout Region in a NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1 for Windows page, and then choose Edit > Undo Move, the image map hot spot remains in the Layout Region. The image moves out of the Layout Region as expected.

MASTERBORDERS

MasterBorders Revert to Original Size After Sizing MasterBorder to Objects in NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1
Solution: S1296
In NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1 for Windows, after you choose Object > Size MasterBorder to Objects, and then click anywhere in Page view, the MasterBorder reverts to its previous size.

PUBLISHING

1. Unable to Terminate File Transfer During Fusion 3.0.1 Publish
Solution: S1200
If your FTP connection unexpectedly terminates during the file transfer portion of a NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1 for Windows publish operation, you are unable to cancel the file transfer. Use the Windows Task Manager to terminate the Fusion process. Republish the site after you restore your FTP connection.

2. Unused Style Elements Appear in Publish View in Fusion 3.0.1
Solution: S1285
NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1 for Windows style elements (e.g., banners, navigation bars) appear in Publish view when they are not used in the web site. Ignore the style elements. If they are not used, they will not be published with your site. If you remove style elements from pages in your web site, but do not remove the pages, Fusion incorrectly displays the removed style element files in Publish view. This is a cosmetic bug in Fusion. If the style elements are not used, they will not be published.

3. Highlighted buttons appear in Publish, even though Highlighting turned off.
Solution: S1281
Ignore the highlighted button image's flag in Publish view. The image will not be published with your web site.

4. FormHander: CGI folder not present in Publish View
No Solution Object
FormHandler: CGI directory doesn't show in publish view until after you actually publish. The reason for this behavior is that components add assets during publish, so Publish view doesn't refresh the component's folder structure until after you publish.

STYLES

1. Color wells don't display correct color in 256 mode
No Solution Object
In 256 color mode, choose a color for a background of a style and color wells don't always display the chosen color. The result is that the background color may not display as desired.

2. Some images appear pixelated in Publish/Preview, but not in Page view.
No Solution Object
Problem is that the transparency color for the images is very close to the rest of the colors in the image. The Ulead engine is dropping some pixels during the color reduction. The workaround is to choose a transparency color far away from the rest of the image's colors so the color reduction code won't confuse the colors. The 'Gradation' style is an example of this problem.

TEXT AND IMAGES

1. NOF 3.0.1 on Windows 95 does not anti-alias text.
Solution: S1287
Text in images generated by NetObjects Fusion 3.0.1 for Windows (e.g., banners, navigation bars) appears bitmapped when viewed in a web browser. To resolve this on some machines, open the Display Control Panel, click the Plus tab, and enable the Smooth Edges of Screen Fonts checkbox. The preceeding solution will work on WindowsNT by default and on 95 or 98 if "Microsoft Plus!" is installed.

2. "Contents wrap to Browser width" does not work when "text inset" is a value other then zero.
No Solution Object.
If you have a text box and set the "Inset" value to a non-zero number, the "Contents Wrap to Browser Width" feature does not work.
