 Samir Arora has been the chairman, chief executive officer and founder of NetObjects since its inception in November 1995. An industry veteran, Arora has more than 14 years of experience in information design, technology development, and marketing, as well as seven years of experience as chief executive officer. Arora invented SOLO (Structure of Linked Objects), the software foundation on which NetObjects' products are based and has been involved with several category-defining software products including HyperCard, 4th Dimension, Rae Assist, NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects Authoring Server.
From 1992 to 1995, Arora was chairman, chief executive officer, and founder of Rae Technology, which pioneered browser-based information-navigation applications. Prior to founding Rae Technology, Arora worked at Apple Computer, where he held key positions in management, business marketing, and application software. While at Apple, Arora worked in emerging technology directions for information navigation, media, and communications in the Office of the Chairman. At Apple in 1986, Arora started working on the concepts of Information Navigation and Browsing-based Applications, precursors to what are now known as Web sites.
Arora holds nine U.S. patents, including eight design patents that were co-invented with Clement Mok, Vic Zauderer, and Susan Kare, and one utility patent that was co-invented with Sal Arora, Raj Lakshminarayan, Greg Brown, and Martin Frid-Nielsen.
Arora attended INSEAD business school in France, holds a diploma in sales and marketing from the London Business School, and studied electrical and electronic engineering at BITS in India.
Arora has been active in music and theatre in the past, having written, directed, produced, and participated in more than 30 productions, including Jesus Christ Superstar (1975-76), Tommy (1978), Kidstuff (1979), Death of an Anarchist (1980), The Day of Atonement (1981), The Wall (1981), The Pinnacle (1982), and The Vulture Stooped Low (1984).
Arora's recreational interests include the arts, body therapy, scuba diving, cross-country skiing, tandem biking, and reading.
