Building a Resizable Page with a Percentage-Based Table

This page is made with a relative width table containing all the elements in the page. The steps to create this are the following:

    1) Create a page
    2) Assign the ZeroMargins masterborder
    3) Draw a text box on the page
    4) On the text box properties select the Size to Layout checkbox
    5) Also select the Content Wrap to Browser Width checkbox
    6) Draw a table in the text area and expand the table so that it fills the text box.
    7) Place all your content in the table cells.  Using the table controls you can split and merge cells to get the layout you want.
    8) Preview or Publish your page.

As it turns out there are still a few glitches in the table tool as I found out as I was designing this page.  Although you ought to be able to specify any split location for cells within a grid, in fact the selector does not do this. There does not currently seem to be a workaround for this although the “Specify Row Height” option for a row selection ought to allow you to specify the height of any element within the table.

However, with a little tweaking I can get this page to look as the others. I have deliberately left the table border information in place on this page so that you can see how the table elements fit together on the page.

Overall, if you really want to use tables it is easier to let NetObjects Fusion create the tables for you behind the scenes. However, if you need relative width tables, this is a method you can use.
