Splash Page

Want a “splash” page for your site that will then pass you to your actual “home” page after a specified interval? Here’s a way to do it, keep the entire site as one site file, and still be able to use your AutoGenerated NavBars:

  1. In the Site View, create a new page and name it “Index” (or “Default”, or whatever your ISP or server uses as the default page name)
  2. Rename the page at the top of your Site Tree as “Home”
  3. Drag the “Index” page you created in Step (1) so that it is somewhere near the bottom of your site tree - preferably where it will not appear on a NavBar
  4. Go the the Page View
  5. Set the “index”  page up the way you want your “Splash” page to appear
  6. Select the “Screen Door” component from the Components Tool pallete, and place it on your page.
  7. Confgure the “Screen Door” component in the “Component Properties” window so that the “Default” setting is set to your “Home” page
  8. Go to the “Publish” view
  9. In the “Publish” view, find the “splash” page (named “index”) in the right hand side of the Publish Window, and drag it up to the “/” level of the site. (If you are publishing your site organized with the “Flat” site structure, skip this step)
  10. Click on the “Setup” button
  11. In the “Publish Setup” window, click on the “Server Locations” tab, then double-click on the Server Location for the Server you are publishing to
  12. Set the “Rename Home Page To” setting to “Current Page Name”

Now, when you publish this site, the server will automatically rout any viewer who puts in your URL to the “Splash” page, which will then route them to the “Home” page.
