GuestBook HowTo

Creating a Guestbook page

On the Fusion 4.0 Installer CD, there is a template for creating a guestbook. It is located:
Extras/Templates/Forms/Guestbook/Guestbook.nft
This template is in Fusion 3.0 format. To get the template into Fusion 4.0 format:

  1. Copy the Guestbook folder to your local hard drive.
  2. Open the Guestbook folder and select the Guestbook.nft file
  3. Right click on the Guestbook.nft file and select Properties from the popup menu
  4. Uncheck the ReadOnly option. Click Apply and Ok.
  5. In Fusion 4.0, File > Open the Guestbook.nft file. Fusion will prompt you asking if you want to create a copy or not. Click yes and name the copy of the site:  GuestbookV4.nft
Fusion will then proceed to open the template

The guestbook template is now in Fusion 4.0 format. If you do not have the Installer CD, or wish to download the templates - click on the template version that you want to download:

You now have two options for the Submit button: using the AutoForm component or using a Third Party Script.

Using the Autoform Component with the Guestbook Template

  1. Delete the Submit button that appears in the form by default.
  2. If you do not already have the Component Toolbar showing, go to View > Toolbars > Component Tools > NetObjects Fusion Components
  3. Select the Autoform Component from the toolbar.
  4. Insert the component in the same place that the Submit button was.
  5. A new Submit button will appear and the Form Handler Properties palette will appear. (If this palette does not appear, go to View > Properties Palette.
  6. Configure the component based on your server requirements.
