 NETOBJECTS TEAM FUSION CLIENT TIPS
Problem: I can't get a sound file to play in the browser.
Solution: Transfer it to a format supported by NetObjects TeamFusion Client; .av, .wav, .midi, .ra, or .aiff. Also, make sure the Web server you published to has the correct mime type to support the file type.
Problem: I opened a site and the navigation buttons didn't fit correctly within their bounding boxes.
Solution: Switch to Style view, apply a different SiteStyle, and then reapply the original SiteStyle.
Problem: While authentication was set to Windows NT, I tried to connect to the authoring server with my Windows NT developer name and password and saw this message: “This account is not recognized by the authoring system you're trying to connect to. Please re-enter your developer name and password and try again or contact your system administrator for more information.” But I know this name and password is correct, because the administrator just created my developer profile and gave me the information.
Solution: The Developer Must Change Password at Next Logon option might be checked in the Windows NT Developer Manager application for your developer profile. Ask your administrator uncheck the option or change your password.
Problem: When I tried to connect to a site, I got an error message that said Site status unknown and I couldn't access the site.
Solution: In NetObjects Administrator, right-click on the site, select Site Settings from the popup menu, and take the site offline. Wait a few minutes and then use Site Settings to make the site available again.
Problem: I imported a site or a template, and a large “X” appeared in place of graphics on some pages. When I switched to Assets View and verified assets, I got an error telling me some assets are missing. Some asset paths looked like this: \Pictures\ThisImage.gif.
Solution: In Assets view, double-click the missing asset and navigate to its file on your source drive to re-establish the link and upload it to the NetObjects Authoring Server. If you did a remote import from the Web, use your Web browser to download the graphic first.
Problem: I tried to delete a page and saw a message that said “Some pages are currently checked out.” This operation cannot continue. I didn't see any checked out pages in Site view.
Solution: The page you tried to delete or one of its child pages is checked out. Click the plus symbols to see all pages. If a page has a single or double profile icon, it is checked out.
Problem: I set a page to External HTML and chose an HTML file. When I published, all the images for that page were broken.
Solution: NetObjects TeamFusion Client does not manage the assets for external pages, only for pages developed in TeamFusion. You must upload the assets referenced in the external HTML page to the referenced directory where the site is published.
Problem: I have trouble seeing some of my pages when I publish or preview.
Solution: You might have used a special character or a space in a page name. Some Web servers have trouble displaying files with spaces or special characters in their names. Avoid using spaces or special characters in page names or check the Replace spaces and special characters with underscores option in your Publish settings. If publishing to a Macintosh, avoid using page names over 26 characters.
Problem: Every time I navigate to a page where another team member has placed an ActiveX control, NetObjects TeamFusion Client crashes.
Solution: If a team member uses an ActiveX control on a page in a site, make sure all team members who connect to that site have the same ActiveX control installed.
Problem: I opened two copies of NetObjects TeamFusion at the same time, but I couldn't copy and paste objects from one copy to another.
Solution: Copy and paste is not supported between two copies of NetObjects TeamFusion.
 NETOBJECTS ADMINISTROR TIPS
Problem: I chose Logoff Developer to disconnect a team member, and when the team member logged back into the site, data was missing from the page the team member last edited.
Solution: Do not use Logoff Developer to log a team member off a site unless there is no alternative. First ask the team member to disconnect from the site.
Problem: I tried to import NT users into NetObjects Administrator from a machine on our network or from our domain and got an error message that said Unable to find NT developers on \\SERVER_NAME.
Solution: Check the following:
- Is the machine up and available?
- Does the machine exist?
- Is the machine name spelled correctly?
- Are you logged into Windows NT with a valid developer name and password for the domain?
If the answer to any of these is no, correct the problem and try again.
Problem: I tried to change the authentication method to Windows NT and saw this error message: “Error while setting privilege <Act as part of the Operating System> for the <Administrators> group. The Windows NT authentication will not work. Please add the privilege manually through the Windows NT Developer Manager and restart your computer.”
Solution: Follow this procedure to set the privilege manually:
- Open the Windows NT Developer Manager application.
- Select Developer Rights from the Policies menu.
- Select the Show Advance Developer Rights option.
- Choose Act as Part of the Operating System from the Rights drop-down menu.
- If the group Administrators does not appear in the Grant To list box, click Add.
- Choose your computer´s domain from the List Names From drop-down menu.
- Select the Administrators group in the Names list box and click Add.
- Click OK in the Developer Rights Policy dialog and exit Developer Manager.
Problem: I tried to create a site on the server and saw this message: “Error creating site.”
Solution: Check that there is no other site with the same name, and that there is sufficient disk space.
Problem: When I tried to back up or delete a site, I see a message that the site is busy.
Solution: Restart the NetObjects Authoring Server.
Problem: I stopped the authoring server using the Services control panel, and then made changes in NetObjects Administrator, but the changes weren´t saved. The site information seemed to disappear from the Sites on LocalHost pane.
Solution: Always exit NetObjects Administrator before stopping the authoring server. The authoring server needs to be running to make changes in NetObjects Administrator.
 NETOBJECTS AUTHORING SERVER TIPS
Problem: The server crashed with an application error.
Solution: Check the following:
- Did the server run out of virtual memory? If this problem persists, increase the amount of physical RAM in the machine or close other applications running on the server.
- Did the server run out of disk space? If so, free up disk space and restart the server.
- Does the server have Microsoft Windows NT Service Pack 3 installed? If you experience unexplained system hangs or crashes, install Microsoft Windows NT Service Pack 3.
Problem: The server continually warns that it is low on virtual memory.
Solution: Increase the amount of physical RAM in the machine or close other applications running on the server.
Problem: I uninstalled the server, and now every time I restart I see this message: “At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details.”
Solution: You might have uninstalled the server without stopping the NetObjects Authoring Server Manager service. This message will not affect the operation of your computer. To get rid of the message, you must reinstall the authoring server, stop the service, and uninstall the server.
Problem: I am using Netscape Enterprise with the NetObjects Authoring Server. I added Shockwave 98 as a new mime type using the administration program for Netscape Enterprise, but when I preview in NetObjects TeamFusion Client, my Shockwave 98 files do not preview.
Solution: When you preview from NetObjects TeamFusion Client, it uses a list of mime types located in the registry on the server. If you want new mime types to preview, you must add them into the registry. Open RegEdit on the server and add each mime type as a string value into the key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NetObjects\Au thoringServer\M imeTypes\. See Registry online help for instructions on adding a string value.
 NETOBJECTS CONTENT CONTRIBUTOR TIPS
Problem: I used a laptop with 640 X 480 resolution to open the NetObjects Content Contributor window. The window did not fit on the screen, and I couldn't see some of the buttons.
Solution: Close the Contributor window, and click the "Click here to launch NetObjects Content Contribution link". This will launch the applet inside a scrollable Netscape window.
Problem: When I launched the NetObjects Content Contributor, a big purple box appeared where I should have seen its title and logo.
Solution: Your monitor is set to 256 colors. Increase the setting to 65536 colors or greater.
Problem: Netscape Navigator 4.0.x for Macintosh crashes frequently while I am accessing the NetObjects Content Contributor applet.
Solution: Use Netscape Navigator 3.01 for Macintosh. Its implementation of Java VU provides more stability with the applet.
