Great sources of free images for your website

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

High quality images add visual appeal to every Web site project. The web offers billions of photos that are in the public domain, or licensed under a Creative Commons License and can be used without any copyright issues. The key to finding the perfect image for your website project is often knowing where to look.

Start your search with the NetObjects image library. These images are the intellectual property of NetObjects Inc. and are available to all NetObjects Fusion licensees for use in their website projects with very few restrictions. NetObjects images are available for download in the Online View as well as in our Google+ or Flickr photo galleries.

Before you begin your search, you should familiarize yourself with the various Creative Commons License types and their terms of use. Creative Commons licenses allow copyright holders to choose from a range of permissions while retaining their copyright. You can never go wrong using images marked as CC0 or images in the Public Domain.

cc-zeroThe CC0 or “No Rights Reserved” designation enables artists, photographers and other owners of copyright protected content to place them in the public domain so others may adapt or reuse the work for any purpose without any restriction under copyright law.
