In NetObjects Fusion, it is recommended to use the Passive Mode FTP in the following cases:
for publishing to servers outside your company’s firewall
if your ISP’s FTP manager establishes connections using passive mode FTP.
Typically, NetObjects Fusion cannot publish through firewalls. If a message tells you that NetObjects Fusion cannot connect to the server, the problem is usually a firewall preventing you from logging on. Also, in some cases of publishing to a proxy server, the publishing process appears to succeed but the files do not appear on your site.
If you develop sites behind a firewall and need to publish to a remote server that is outside the firewall, you need to use FTP passive mode to connect to the server.
To enable the Passive Mode option in NetObjects Fusion:
In Publish view, click Publish Settings on the Views bar.
Choose a profile from the Profile list.
Click Advanced Publish Settings and select the Advanced FTP tab.
Check the Connect passive mode option (if not already checked).
Click Close.
Note: Although some firewalls allow Passive Mode FTP as a security mode, others may not be configured for it. In that case, publishing will not work.
If the remote server to which you publish is behind a firewall or stored on a proxy server, NetObjects Fusion cannot publish directly to the server. If that’s the case, you need to publish your site locally and then transfer the content to the remote server.
