Web Hosting Company HTML.COM Selects NetObjects Matrix to Expand Web Services NetObjects Matrix brings easy-to-use, professional Web site building and Web Services to HTML.COM small business customers
Redwood City, Calif., June 26, 2001—NetObjects (NASDAQ: NETO) today announced that HTML.COM has selected NetObjects Matrix to power its new Web Services offering designed for small and medium size businesses worldwide. NetObjects Matrix is a next-generation platform that allows various Web Services to integrate seamlessly into the Web site building and hosting process.
“We believe that with NetObjects Matrix we have found the holy grail of small business Web development,” said Keith Basil, chief evangelist for HTML.COM. “We looked at several different Web site building products and even considered building our own product. However, we could not find a solution that was easy to use and comprehensive, that also produced professional quality results. NetObjects is the first company with the technology available today that can enable us to provide this type of value to our customers.”
HTML.COM will private-label NetObjects Matrix and leverage the NetObjects ISP Partner Program, eliminating the need for HTML.COM to make investments in new infrastructure. The ability to utilize the NetObjects ASP version of NetObjects Matrix lets HTML.COM bring their solution to market quickly, at a lower cost, and with a fast break-even point. In addition to Web site building, HTML.COM customers will have access to additional Web services, including online marketing and business management tools and e-commerce solutions.
“We are pleased that HTML.COM has selected NetObjects Matrix as the cornerstone of their growth strategy,” said Jim Calhoun, vice president of product management and product marketing for NetObjects. “As with our other recent customer wins – IBM, Telecom Italia – the market is validating the fact that the NetObjects Matrix platform is perfectly positioned to deliver significant value today and over time to our partners and their small business customers.”
Taking advantage of the open and extensible NetObjects Matrix Platform, HTML.COM is integrating its existing Web hosting infrastructure, domain name registration services, and billing systems to give the customer a complete package and seamless user experience.
The NetObjects Matrix Platform offers partners a quick and easy way to bundle value-added Web Services into a solution mix that is right for their customer base – helping them tap the booming market for online small business solutions. The ability to scale to thousands of users makes NetObjects Matrix even more valuable to Web hosting companies and other partners that want to significantly grow their business.

About NetObjects Matrix NetObject Matrix is a next-generation platform that avoids the limitations faced by companies using first-generation Web application architectures. The key difference is that NetObjects’ open, component-based interfaces allow NetObjects to integrate third-party Web Services seamlessly into the Web site building and hosting process – giving small businesses the ability to “mix and match” Web Services to create a truly tailored e-business solution. This gives end-users and channel partners greater flexibility in the solutions they configure or sell.
NetObjects Matrix includes the industry’s first Web-based WYSIWYG Web site builder, providing unmatched ease of use, unlike first-generation online site building solutions that rely on the user to fill out forms to create a Web presence. In addition, NetObjects modular output technology supports creation of Web sites that can be viewed in browsers, wireless devices and submitted to leading marketplaces and directories all with one click.
